Faith Formation at First Presbyterian Church of Allentown welcomes people of all ages and stages and identities, with-out reservation, to explore in a safe community what it means for present and future generations to live a Christ-like life.
The What
Faith formation is the lifelong process by which the Holy Spirit transforms us as individuals and a community of faith more and more into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Some people call this Christian Education. For us, faith formation is more than learning content. It’s a matter of allowing the Holy Spirit to work through content and experience to make us more the people God created us to be.
Children
Do you have children age 3 up to and including 5th grade age? Come learn with us, online or in-person, as we grow in faith together. Our world has turned upside down for certain, but God’s unchanging love is steadfast, calling families of all shapes, sizes, and stages to be God’s children.
The youth (6th-12th Graders) are a vital part of First Presbyterian Church of Allentown’s life. We form the faith of our middle and high school youth and their families through education, fellowship, mission, and intentional involvement among our multigenerational community.
Adult Faith Formation at FPCA helps us meet the needs of our people at whatever moment they find themselves in their journey of faith, at any age or stage or identity. Adult groups meet both on Sundays and during the week with pastors and member-led discussions of the Bible and Christian living today.
In addition to faith formation, we emphasis intergenerational ministry and fellowship. The Fellowship Committee of First Presbyterian Church of Allentown exists to build a welcoming Christian community by promoting engagement in activities that offer opportunities for faith driven relationships. The purpose is to provide opportunities for participants to grow in relationship with God and each other through inclusive and intergenerational activities coordinated by the Fellowship Team.
Faith Formation Leaders
We believe God equips all people with spiritual gifts and talents and calls us to use those gifts to further the work of God’s Kingdom on earth. Every time a child is baptized, our congregation promises to help parents raise and nurture their child in the ways of God. One way we can live out this baptismal vow is to serve as a faith formation leader. Many opportunities exist for members and friends of our congregation to serve as a leader of children, tweens, youth and adults. Is God calling you to use your gifts as a faith formation leader?
